PLUT

PLUT, a record collector’s group of men who collect lp’s and singles. They gather monthly to listen and talk about music. A look into their collections.

BIBLIOPHILIA

A bibliophile is defined as someone who collects books to build a collection that looks nice. But the collector of books designated as a bibliophile is actually a control freak. He’s only alive when he’s surrounded by books. He must smell the scent of a book, must feel the cover of a book and hear the pages. He want to lose himself in the books and does everything to make the books his own. Allow a stranger in your treasury? Showing everything you’ve collected all your life to someone else? Most bibliophiles prefer not to.

Eroded wood sticks

I collect wood sticks eroded with water. Walking through the lake’s coast of Tierra del Fuego, observing, searching and founding shapes and textures. They remember me the silence process of nature, the pass of time. The water as balm. Looking at them takes me to that moment. I keep them as a talisman.

Vacuum Boy

Fourteen year old, Scott MacMillan, has been collecting vacuums since age six. He even once had a Dirt Devil themed birthday party complete with a Dirt Devil cake. When asked about his unusual collection, Scott simply offers: "I don't know, I just liked them." As for the future, Scott dreams of one day becoming the CEO of his favorite vacuum company, Rainbow. In the meantime, he volunteers at his local vacuum store, where he helps customers make smart choices about which machine is right for them. Scott's advice: "Don't buy a Dyson, they suck."

PENCIL INSPIRED

Tressa "Grandma" Prisbrey at the age of 60, needing space for her collection of 17,000 pencils began building structures out of bottles. She built about 15 small rooms. Amber beer bottles, green wine bottles. Any bottles could become the essence of "Grandma" Prisbey's Bottle Village.

She said, she took a couple of days off to count “one million and fifteen bottles." I photographed "Grandma" Prisbrey when she was 84.

Boom! War collectors

BoOM! tells the story about dutch Battle Re-Enactors who keep themselves busy with playing scenes from the first and second World War. This group consists collectors who mainly buy, renovate and sell original army vehicles, weapons and clothing. In 2009 I joined the biggest groups LHGH, LPLG, HRVN, MDA, Aces, Supersixth, the german Windhund and the Triple A. On the official events everything from small machine guns till Sherman tanks rolls out to re-enact important historic battles. From Bussum Bridgehead, Waalwijk, Market Garden till D-Day in Normandie.

Everything found in a flee market comes from a collection

Walking with a camera in flee market is like walking around what people collected in a life time. Colorful, even in a rainy day.

Disposable Cutlery

Sometimes they're called "plastic silverware", but the most accurate name is probably "single-use flatware" or "disposable cutlery". I have over 500 different kinds from over a dozen countries. Most of them are from the United States (because that is where I live). I have created a comprehensive classification system for these utensils, and I am currently writing a book about them. If you would like to know more, or if you have some utensils you would like to send/sell me, please contact ogmarshall@gmail.com.
