sea - #77

Thom 1

The series called “Thom” is about a former dancer whose weight reached 350 pounds over the years. He still loves to perform, and so I photograph him since about a year in different locations around New York City. This project is part of my ongoing project called “The Body and Space,” where I photograph people of different builds, sizes and backgrounds in architectural surroundings. www.strudelmedia.com

Guilty Octopus Pleasure

The ocean is a being of immeasurable power; ever moving and evolving. An octopus represents the ocean perfectly, it is a creature that can hypnotize and enchant, but if you loose sight of its power it will destroy you. In this piece, the octopus is used as a metaphor for anything that is tempting, addictive, unpredictable, and dangerous. The image shows a personal struggle between fueling a vice or gaining liberation from temptation.

North East Project - Narrative In Time and Space

North East Project is an interactive storytelling project that uses navigation coordinates as a narrative structure. It explores the reciprocal relationship between man and his physical surroundings. The project focuses on the nautical sphere, a constantly shifting place, which man can never have total control over but must perpetually renegotiate his position. The place one is in contributes in establishing one's identity; and vice versa, the place is equally as affected by being inhabited in.

The seas flavor

I grew up swimming in the pacific ocean every summer in Peru. Over there, the sunny days starts with a ceviche, a spicy and refreshing fish dish. Every family has its own secrets for prepared it, they use different kinf of "aji" -chilli peppers-, purple onion, lemon juice and fresh fish. But for me, the real secret is that a ceviche will make you travel back to the happy summers of your childhood wherever you are.

Chrysaora quinquecirrha Jellyfish

The sea nettle (Chrysaora quinquecirrha) is radially symmetrical, marine, and carnivorous. Its mouth is located at the center of one end of the body, which opens to a gastrovascular cavity that is used for digestion. It has tentacles that surround the mouth to capture food. Nettles have no excretory or respiratory organs. Each sea nettle is free-swimming and can reproduce both sexually and asexually.
