sea - #77

I've seen through uncountable landscapes

Different images united to draw a unique horizon. I tripped around the earth through the pictures I've taken, through those I found in my family albums and through the love I carry within. The sea is one whole world that goes from light to deep blue, and it always match.

RUSSIAN SEA IN BROOKLYN

Brighton Beach in Brooklyn was named "Little Odessa" due to many of its residents having come from Odessa, Ukraine. After the Siege of Odessa in 1941, over 25.000 people were killed and 35.000 more were deported. Many of the city’s Jew emigrated to the US and settled in the Little Odessa. It is today one of the largest Russian communities outside Moscow. As if the ocean would bring memories and objects from their past, the beach becomes a space for meditation and exploration in time. http://www.mathilderousselgiraudy.com/

paradise lost

Holy cow in Tamil Nadu (India)

Rameshwaram Temple, Tamil Nadu, India Rameshwaram is the place from where Lord Rama built a bridge Ram Setu across the sea to Lanka to rescue his consort Sita from her abductor Ravana. Before the darshan at Rameshwaram temple everyone (men and holy cow) took bath in the holy theerthas which is a major aspect of the pilgrimage to Rameswaram and is considered equivalent to penance.

FISHING NET

Everyday dolphins are trapped by fishing nets, this a really big problem coz thousands of dolphins are dying by this cause. I tried to come up with this image, hope this can project that we must be more conscious of this terrible problem.

Dreaming in Costa Chica

Simple together... We just need to become sensitives and Let ourselves get in osmosis with nature.

Port Augusta, South Australia

Port Augusta is known as the crossroads of Australia. Road trains travel through on route to Perth, Adelaide and Darwin. For Aboriginal people the area was traditionally a meeting point. At last count there were 41 different Aboriginal language groups represented. The Gulf has a popular stretch of shacks known as shack road where locals take their dinghies out to catch squid, fish and crabs. It is also the service town for massive mining communities further north. Next year the Olympic dam open cut mine will become the largest in the southern Hemisphere.

ADVENTURE OF EMOTIONAL LIQUID

Surrounded by rivers and a tidal stream, Manhattan has always been a hub of maritime commerce. Seafaring has shaped the city in many ways and even the term skyscraper refers to the to the highest sail on a clipper ship. New Yorker connection with the water however has eroded through time. Highways and industrial complex separate the city form the water. For most the ocean is a scary dimension over which we have no or little control. However human body is mostly water, we live in water for 9 moth of our life, to be in water and play with it is an innate desire.
