The illegal sea

"Look carefully. Your eyes will get used in the dark and you ‘ll see them. As the mice they ’ll begin to emerge from their hiding places", Sakis says and laughs. Indeed, behind the shadows and through the dense fog of the cold night appear one behind the other the little boats, laden with illegal nets, the famous crystals. The crystals are transparent nets with very small opening, causing irreparable damage to the already damaged bottom of the sea in Mesolongi town not far away from Athens, Greece. It is for this reason, that they have been banned by law.

Cape Matapan

Cape Matapan or also known as Cape Tainaro is the southernmost point of mainland Greece. The whole Peloponnese region is the mythical gateway to the underworld and Cape Matapan according to legend is the home of the god of death Hades. As well as the home of Hades there lie the remains of an ancient temple dedicated to Poseidon the god of the sea and the protector of many Hellenic cities. It’s a truly an magical place where you feel like you are back in ancient Greece.

(the Sea Is...) Inspirational

The seaside is the place where most people take photographs. Captured images are often created only for the purpose of taking a photo, they would have not happened otherwise. Photography creates reality, reality does not create photography .

Swimming in toxic waters

Swimming in toxic waters In antiquity the Thriasio Plain, to the South west of Athens on the Saronic Gulf, was one of the holiest areas of Greece, with its centre at Elefsina. Today it is the industrial backyard of Athens, hosting 40% of Greek industry with 1,623 industrial plants, two refineries, two steel mills, two cement plants, two shipyards and an ammunition factory. The area has become one of the most environmentally degraded areas of the country.
