The last ferry

Kronstadt is small town on the island in the middle of Finnish Bay. It was build as a fortress and naval base, and still functions as one, but with the crush of Soviet Union its significance dropped and it became free to enter. Before the dam ferries were the only way to reach Kotlin island, where the town of Kronstadt is. But as the anti-flood dam construction goes on, the last years of this ferry pass as dam provides for more convenient way to reach the town.

About a year ago we had nice clear ice all around the coast of Helsinki. We were ice skating there and I found these cool air bubbles under the ice surface.

The sea is changing

This is stormy Boulevard Bay. Overlooking downtown Portland, ME. The Boulevard Bay is a urban park hosting varieties coastal wildlife. This was the first storm of the 2008 winter, giving Maine it's first taste of the winter season. Over a few hours an inch of fluffy super-size snowflakes blanketed the parks miles of walkway.
