A Pirate Without Sea

Alone in his cell in New York, does Somali pirate, Abduhl Wali-i-Musi, long for the sea? The only survivor of a pirate ship that American troops raided last spring, the teenager is being tried for seven counts of piracy. What is it like for someone who has spent his whole life on the sea to face the possibility that he may never see the sea again? For Colors, I purpose an interview with Abduhl Wali-i-Musi about his life as a pirate, his experience of the sea and what he misses most about being away from it.

Fisherman Pirate Love

Since the hijack of the Sirius Star on November 17 the world's attention has focused on Somali piracy, and the small fishing towns where many of them reside.

The fishermen of Malindi and
Eyl are celebrating and its all thanks to the pirates. Since piracy has scared away the international trawlers who were ravaging Kenyas fish stocks, local fishing is thriving again.

To many, the priates are heros, expeling the international fisheries who have looted Somali waters, and European tankers who dump hazerdous waste.
