1 kg kiwi=25 kg CO2

Until a few decades ago, food traveled much less than today. Looking only at supermarket shelves, our tables and pantries, we hardly notice what season we're in. Supply is so vast and varied that the we can find pretty much anything (from Coconuts to chestnuts, mangos to oranges) and everything seems to be local and within easy reach.

But it isn't. Do you know how much CO2 is released into the atmosphere for each kilogram of fruit produced overseas and transported to our country?

The Salton Sea, California's first climate victim

A desert landscape; abandoned crumbling hotels; dry swimming pools; dead palm trees; a salty lake with white salt-crusted beaches and dead fish. Welcome to the Salton Sea, an apocalyptic place in the forgotten southeast corner of California. The Salton Sea is one of the first victims of climate change. They ship most of the seafood from elsewhere, one replied.

(the sea is...) a waste dump

Quiet and ghostly, Sumqayit, the third biggest town of Azerbaijan tries not to remember its past as the biggest dump of the country; it all started when years ago, the Sovietic government decided to use the town to get rid of all the siderurgic, chemical and oil industries waste of the nearby capital city Baku. The absheron peninsula, turned itself from a beautiful place for tourism into a sad and wasted landscape. The high pollution percentage, let the city earn the first place in the most polluted cities of the world award in 2006-08. Taking a shot into Sumquayt people’s life, all of this seems to be unreal. The perception of all these risks is absent in their eyes and they completely ignore the fact that the tail of this pollution catastrophe still bring malformed child, genetic mutations and took the percentage of cancer afflicted up to 51% all of this thanks to the constant and increasing pollution.
