(the sea is...) a waste dump

Quiet and ghostly, Sumqayit, the third biggest town of Azerbaijan tries not to remember its past as the biggest dump of the country; it all started when years ago, the Sovietic government decided to use the town to get rid of all the siderurgic, chemical and oil industries waste of the nearby capital city Baku. The absheron peninsula, turned itself from a beautiful place for tourism into a sad and wasted landscape. The high pollution percentage, let the city earn the first place in the most polluted cities of the world award in 2006-08. Taking a shot into Sumquayt people’s life, all of this seems to be unreal. The perception of all these risks is absent in their eyes and they completely ignore the fact that the tail of this pollution catastrophe still bring malformed child, genetic mutations and took the percentage of cancer afflicted up to 51% all of this thanks to the constant and increasing pollution.

South China Sea

FROM ISLAND TO ISLAND, SOUTH CHINA SEA, MALAYSIA

Thangka very much

This is a painting on my wall. It comes from northernmost Nepal. The sea is tears and rain and spit and sweat from the watchtowers of the West. Home of Jörmungandr and Ran and Aegir and Neptune; behemoths from the beginning of things, that move in secret under the floorboards of the sky. West meets fiery South to become the breath of the East. The urn will catch the sea but never own it; Aquarius can only carry it for a time, like tarot's Star, like Saint Chris ferrying Jesus across the currents. To walk on water, cold feet are required.

Mauritian reef from above

This little photo project was all about the Mauritian reef from 25 metres ... and its so so many different colours. No photoshopping - the photos are as they were taken - from a kite installed in my kite. I spent a week kitesurfing around the island, discovering some of the most amazing spots, and photographing a few on the way. I like the rain/rainbow one - I am in wonder and pointing it out to the camera - oping the timer will capture that moment
