Thecla

Stretching their legs. The dance life of a ballet dancer is often in its twilight by the time they turn thirty. Injuries, loss of flexibility in the joints and the hardening of muscle mass turns a otherwise young person into an elderly dancer. The woman featured here, with black hair and red nail polish is Thecla, a Dutch ballerina who challenged destiny and tricked her body to keep dancing ballet until the age of 85! Photo by Paul D.Scott
