A few months ago, a shaman has predicted they would soon be very famous. "It worked!" says Temulin. "We receive 200 SMS per day of love," adds his brother with pride.

It's a time of exploration, independence, hardship and excessive flirtation... the Israeli army. While well known to anyone in the Middle East, very few watching the regular sensational news clips of Israeli bombings, arrests or checkpoint conflagrations realize that these soldiers are, in fact, largely teenagers.

Mandatory for all Israelis, female and male alike, the army is an age-specific period in the lives of almost all Israelis signifying the last stage of the teenage years.

Rejection is the hardest thing we face. Mike waits to be played in a match, but never gets his turn after hearing grand promises of being a star player. The coach placed him on the team to bridge a gap between "jocks" and "skaters" - an all too common phenomenon in the 90's. Mike, the athletically inclined skater, is too small to help the coach achieve his main interest: WINNING. This photo was taken in the early 90's by Mike's dad. Mike is now 33, produces music and paints trains.
