When Laurie was born, her heart was six times larger than a regular heart. Doctors gave her a few days to live, but she kept on living nevertheless. After a few more visits to the hospital, the doctors said there was nothing wrong anymore, and she was sent home as a perfectly healthy baby.
At twelve, however, the heart problems returned. A visit to the cardiologist led to the chilling conclusion; she had to operation if she was to live.
